Final spread from A Hundred Years of Treats
Final spread The journey resolves in shared music, play, and a landscape large enough for every character.

01 · The book

A visual story built from curiosity, scale, and movement.

Created independently from concept to final layout, the book follows a gift as it gathers stories, characters, and music. Recurring shapes and directional movement connect all thirty-two pages.

02 · Process

From rough storyboard to finished rhythm.

This early draft maps the complete arc before color and texture were introduced. I used silhouettes, repeated objects, and page-turn changes to test pacing, scale, and movement.

03 · Story arc

Three beats move the reader from a question to connection.

Each spread changes the scale or direction of the journey while recurring objects keep the sequence coherent.

Encounters

Forward motion

Gesture and direction carry the reader toward the ending.

04 · Visual language

Paper texture gives simple shapes a tactile voice.

Flat silhouettes remain readable, while scanned and painted textures introduce warmth, age, and variation. Large areas of white create pauses between denser scenes.

Recurring deviceA ribbon becomes both an object and a directional guide between scenes.

05 · Sequence

Thirty-two pages, one continuous rhythm.

Viewed together, the spreads show how quiet openings, denser encounters, and broad final scenes create a deliberate reading pace.

What this project demonstrates

Visual storytelling is interaction design on paper: every page turn changes expectation through scale, silence, repetition, and movement.
